Rhythm games always seem to find new ways to innovate. Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Parappa, Beat Saber, and now- BPM: Bullets Per Minute. A Doom-inspired rogue-like first person shooter where you stay on the beat or die trying. Fast paced action and some incredibly satisfying shooting mechanics are all wrapped neatly in this unique hell-themed art style. The main gimmick is that you can only shoot and reload to the beat of the music. Losing your rhythm means nothing happens and puts you in danger. Each playthrough is randomized and some of the combinations can really leave you screwed over, but at least spending money in the shops opens up more slots to be purchased in future runs. With a solid, if slightly repetitive soundtrack, well designed boss fights, and a litany of weapons, power-ups, and characters at your disposal tackling these 8 incredibly challenging levels is an absolute blast! Just make sure to change the rhythm detection setting to loose when first starting out. My sense of rhythm may not be perfect, but I think the game may have a touch of input delay that takes some getting used to. Either way, a really fun and super unique experience.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute

BPM stands out as original in the FPS, rhythm, and roguelike genres all at once, but the short length and finnicky click detection hold it back just a bit.
